  1. Retrieve all SRS codes and note whether B0050 is current, pending, or history; clear codes and see if B0050 returns immediately when the ignition is cycled.
  2. Visually inspect the driver seat belt buckle, its harness, and the under-seat connector for damage, corrosion, liquid intrusion, or loose terminals; gently wiggle the harness while watching the code status.
  3. Remove or access the buckle sensor connector and test the switch/sensor with a multimeter or scan-tool live data while buckling and unbuckling the belt; the state should change cleanly without flicker.
  4. Check continuity and insulation of the wiring between the buckle sensor and the SRS module, and verify reference voltage/ground if specifications are available.
  5. Compare operation with the passenger-side circuit only as a reference; if the passenger buckle behaves normally, the module-side circuitry is likely intact.
