How it's diagnosed

  1. Retrieve all stored codes and freeze-frame data; note any related sensor or communication codes.
  2. Visually inspect the longitudinal acceleration sensor, its connector, and wiring harness for damage, corrosion, or loose connections.
  3. Disconnect the sensor connector and measure reference voltage (typically 5 V) and ground at the module side with ignition on.
  4. Check continuity of the signal, reference, and ground circuits between the sensor connector and the control module; repair any open or shorted wires.
  5. With the sensor connected, back-probe the signal wire and monitor voltage while the vehicle is stationary and during a controlled acceleration/deceleration; compare to specification.
