Corroded, chafed, or broken harness wires and loose connectors at the affected cylinder can interrupt the trigger or power signals. A wiggle test while monitoring misfire counts often reveals intermittent faults.

4. Vacuum or intake leak affecting cylinder 10

A leaking intake manifold gasket, cracked runner, or stuck-open PCV valve near the affected bank can lean the air/fuel mixture enough to cause misfires, often worse at idle.

5. Mechanical issue causing low compression on cylinder 10

A burned valve, worn piston ring, damaged valve seat, or a slipped/ruptured timing component can reduce compression. A compression and leak-down test is required to confirm.

6. PCM or driver circuit fault (rare)

  2. Identify the physical location of cylinder 10 using the manufacturer's firing order and numbering convention, then visually inspect the plug, coil, and wiring for damage, carbon tracking, or oil contamination.
  3. Swap the ignition coil from cylinder 10 with an adjacent cylinder and clear codes; if the misfire follows the coil, it is the failed component.
  4. Test the fuel injector with a noid light, ohm meter, or by swapping it to another cylinder to see whether the misfire moves; check fuel pressure and rail condition.
  5. Perform a compression test and, if low, a leak-down test on cylinder 10 to rule out internal mechanical failure before condemning any single component.
  6. Inspect the injector and coil harness and connectors for chafing, corrosion, or pin damage, and verify power and ground at the connector with a multimeter or lab scope.
