The powertrain or climate control module has detected an electrical fault in the air conditioning evaporator temperature sensor circuit. This sensor measures evaporator core temperature to prevent freeze-up and regulate compressor operation. The code sets when the signal voltage or resistance falls outside the expected range for a calibrated period of time.

1. Faulty A/C evaporator temperature sensor

The thermistor or sensing element inside the sensor can drift out of calibration or fail internally, producing an out-of-range signal that the module cannot interpret.

  3. Back-probe the harness connector to verify reference voltage, ground integrity, and signal return while the circuit is active.
  4. Perform continuity and isolation tests on the sensor circuit to identify opens, shorts-to-ground, or shorts-to-voltage along the entire harness path.
  5. If the sensor tests within specification and the wiring is intact, evaluate climate control or powertrain module data to rule out an internal processing fault.
