The heater wiring has shorted to another circuit with lower voltage potential, such as a sensor signal return or 5-volt reference circuit, pulling the heater control voltage down.

5. PCM internal heater driver malfunction

The powertrain control module's internal transistor or driver circuit that controls the heater ground side has failed shorted or is unable to maintain proper voltage (rare).

  1. Visually inspect the NOx sensor connector and wiring harness for damage, corrosion, chafing, or pin push-out
