1. Real combustion knock on cylinder 6

Low-octane fuel, carbon deposits, a hot spot, or an over-advanced ignition calibration can cause genuine detonation that the sensor is correctly reporting.

2. Lean air/fuel condition in cylinder 6

A vacuum leak, restricted injector, weak fuel pressure, or an EGR or cooling issue can lean the mixture enough to produce knock on a single cylinder.

3. Excess carbon buildup in cylinder 6

  3. Inspect the cylinder 6 knock/combustion vibration sensor, its wiring harness, and connector for damage, corrosion, loose fit, or oil contamination.
  4. Perform a compression and/or leak-down test on cylinder 6 to rule out a mechanical issue that could change combustion behavior.
  5. Check the intake and vacuum system for leaks, and verify fuel pressure and injector performance to rule out a lean condition.
