  3. Disconnect the EGT sensor connector and measure resistance across the sensor terminals — compare to specifications for the current exhaust temperature. An open or out-of-range reading confirms sensor failure.
  4. With the sensor disconnected, check for proper reference voltage and ground at the harness side of the connector using a digital multimeter.
  5. Perform a wiggle test on the wiring harness between the sensor and the PCM while monitoring live data to detect intermittent opens.
