  4. Check the circuit for continuity, shorts to ground, and shorts to other circuits using a wiring diagram; verify reference voltage and ground are present at the sensor
  5. If the sensor and wiring are verified good, evaluate TCM/PCM inputs and outputs; reflash or replace the module only as a last resort
