Service quick specs OEM factory data

Capacities, torques and tune-up values from the factory service manual.

This engine holds 4.6 qt of 0W-20 engine oil, Honda DPSF-II in the differential, DOT 3 brake fluid. Torque the oil drain plug to 29.0 ft-lbs. The firing order is 1-3-4-2. Note the cylinder-head bolts finish on a torque angle (torque-to-yield) — they stretch permanently and should be replaced, not reused, during any head service.

If either diameter is less than 11.3 mm (0.445 in), Do not reuse old bolts. Use new bolts coated with clean engine oil. Reliability & federal safety record

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.

The 2015 Honda CR-V sits near the top of a relatively quiet 2012–2016 stretch, with 668 NHTSA complaints, 3 recalls, 2 investigations, and 133 TSBs. That complaint count exceeds 2014's 585 and 2016's 388, while recalls remained modest and matched 2016's 3 versus just 1 in 2014. Across the broader record, the line had settled after 2011, but 2014–2015 marked a renewed climb that foreshadowed a much larger spike in 2017 and 2018, when complaints jumped to 1,740 and 2,085. The leading 2015 complaint categories were Engine (111), Unknown or Other (94), Power Train (63), and Electrical System (44), with 37 crash-related and 4 fire-related complaints; the data does not specify root causes. Because 2015 shows higher owner-reported problems than the cleaner 2012–2013 and 2016 model years yet remains well below the 2017–2018 surge, it is a cautious buy: inspect thoroughly and verify recall completion, but it is not the worst year in this arc.
