Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 2015 Santa Fe Sport.

Body SUV

The 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport enters the compact SUV segment with 80 owner-reported complaints and three recalls, with engine concerns leading the complaint categories for this model year. Within the broader 20132018 Santa Fe Sport lineage, the 2015 iteration sits well below the 2018 peak of 412 complaints but above the 2016 low of 64, positioning it in the middle of the model's documented reliability range. This placement suggests a moderate complaint profile relative to its siblings, with the engine-focused pattern warranting attention for anyone researching long-term ownership trends.

Factory maintenance schedule OEM · verified

Normal service, condensed from the factory interval matrix.

Under the factory schedule, replace the engine oil and filter at 3,000 mi; spark plugs at 105,000 mi; coolant every 30,000 mi. The big-interval services (every 30,000 mi for coolant, and the transmission fluid) are the ones owners most often skip — on a lower-mileage example, assume the original fluids are still in it and check them first.

Reliability & federal safety record

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.

Across this generation, federal records show a trend of declining complaints and recalls from 2013 through 2016, followed by a sharp increase in 2017 and 2018. The 2015 model falls within this initial improvement arc, recording only 80 complaints and 3 recalls, a significant decrease from the 190 complaints and 6 recalls seen in 2013. For the 2015 model, the primary complaint areas are the engine (28) and hydraulic service brakes (14), although the data does not specify the root cause of these reports. Additionally, there were 6 reported fire complaints and 1 crash complaint for this target year. This year exhibits far greater stability than the 2017 and 2018 models, which saw complaints jump to 338 and 412 respectively. Given its position as one of the lowest-complaint years in the sequence, the 2015 is a good year to buy.
