2010 Kia Forte/Forte Koup

Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 2010 Forte/Forte Koup.

Body PASSENGER CAR

The 2010 Kia Forte and its coupe variant, the Forte Koup, are compact passenger cars built on Kia's contemporary global platform, powered by a four-cylinder engine that requires 4.1 quarts of oil with a recommended viscosity of 5W-20 or 5W-30 meeting API specifications. This model year represented an important step in Kia's push into the competitive compact car segment, offering practical transportation with the brand's then-emerging design language. Against industry benchmarks, the 2010 Forte recorded 232 owner complaints with the engine ranking as the primary concern across three separate recalls issued during its production run, indicating that while the model marked a period of growth for Kia, it also exhibited the growing pains common to newer nameplates still establishing their long-term reliability track record.

Reliability & federal safety record

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.

Owner complaints about the 2010 Kia Forte/Forte Koup lead in one area — the engine, 52 of 232 reports (22%), well ahead of the next concern. None of this vehicle's 3 recall campaigns target the engine, so those reports read as owner-reported wear-and-tear rather than an acknowledged defect. 21 of the reports describe a crash and 5 a fire — a small share of the total, but worth weighing against the engine pattern above. These are tallies of what owners actually reported to the federal government, not an editorial score — and higher-selling models naturally rack up more reports.
