C0619 is a chassis diagnostic trouble code indicating that the brake pedal position (BPP) sensor's voltage offset has drifted outside the range the control module is able to relearn or recalibrate. The BPP sensor reports pedal position to multiple modules (ABS, transmission, body, and engine), and the system has stored the code because it cannot adapt to the current signal.

1. Faulty brake pedal position sensor

The sensor itself has failed or its internal resistance has drifted out of the acceptable window. This is the single most common cause of an 'offset exceeded learning limit' code.

2. Misadjusted brake pedal or stop lamp switch

Incorrect pedal free play, a stuck switch, or a mounting bracket that is out of position can place the sensor's resting signal outside the learnable range.

3. Damaged wiring or poor connector at the BPP sensor

Chafed insulation, broken wires, pushed-out pins, or corrosion in the sensor connector can produce an erratic or shifted signal that the module cannot adapt to.

4. Mechanical issue with the brake pedal assembly

A worn pivot, bent pedal, missing return spring, or binding booster pushrod can prevent the pedal from returning fully, shifting the sensor's baseline reading.

5. Low system voltage or weak ground

A marginal battery or poor chassis ground can skew the sensor's 5-volt reference signal enough to push the learned offset out of range.

6. Control module (rare)

The ABS, BCM, or PCM is only a plausible cause after every other possibility has been ruled out and a proper relearn procedure has failed.

How it's diagnosed

  1. Inspect the brake pedal assembly for full return, intact spring, and correct free play; adjust the stop lamp switch if travel is off.
  2. Visually inspect the BPP sensor harness and connector for chafing, broken wires, bent pins, or corrosion; repair as needed.
  3. Using a scan tool, view BPP sensor live data and compare pedal-at-rest and pedal-fully-pressed voltages against the manufacturer's specification.
  4. Back-probe the sensor connector to verify the 5-volt reference and a clean ground at the sensor terminals.
  5. Perform the manufacturer's BPP sensor relearn/calibration procedure with a scan tool and re-check for the code.
  6. Check for related codes in the ABS, transmission, and body control modules, and review freeze-frame data for the conditions when the code set.
