U0255 indicates that the vehicle’s main control modules can no longer communicate with the Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) over the data network. 3. Data bus wiring or termination fault

Damage, corrosion, or poor connections in the CAN or LIN communication lines between the FDIM and the rest of the network can interrupt messages and trigger U0255.

4. Connector or pin damage at the FDIM harness

Loose, corroded, bent, or moisture-contaminated pins at the display connector can cause intermittent or permanent loss of communication.

5. Network interference from another failing module

A shorted control module elsewhere on the bus can sometimes pull the entire network down and cause multiple modules, including the FDIM, to report lost communication.

How it's diagnosed

  2. Inspect the FDIM connectors for moisture, corrosion, bent pins, and secure engagement; wiggle-test the harness while monitoring communication if possible.
  3. Check the FDIM power, ignition, and ground circuits for correct voltage, continuity, and low resistance per the manufacturer wiring diagram.
  4. Verify CAN/LIN bus voltage and resistance at the FDIM connector and confirm the network is not shorted to power, ground, or another circuit.
  5. If wiring and network integrity are good, follow the manufacturer procedure to reflash or replace the Front Display Interface Module before considering other control modules.
